My book "Operation Iraqi Freedom - A JUST WAR - Counter to Intelligence" is due out sometime this summer. In the meantime there are at least three books currently available which state the same thing that I state i.e. everything that President Bush said about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein was true. The three must read books are:
"Shadow Warriors: The Untold Story of Traitors, Saboteurs, and the Party of Surrender" by investigative reporter Ken Timmerman
"Saddam's Secrets" by Iraqi General Georges Sada
"The Secret History of the Iraq War" by Youssef Bodansky

About my Book:
OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM:
A JUST WAR!
Counter to Intelligence
Everything that you have heard about Iraq in the media and from the government is wrong. You must forget what you know or THINK you know about Iraq. In as simple terms as I can muster, this website is dedicated to what really happened in Iraq and why it is said that there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) there.
The root cause of the problem regarding WMD in Iraq was that the Coalition (advised by the CIA) went in to Iraq with a preconceived notion that was completely wrong. We mistakenly went to war in Iraq fully expecting Iraq to use its WMD against us. This was based upon mistaken intelligence analysis of Iraq's strategic intentions.
Shortly after 9/11/01, Iraq began a massive effort to conceal its known WMD stockpiles and precursors. It took Iraq about one year to fully believe that they had concealed their known WMD programs at which time they considered allowing the UN WMD inspectors back into Iraq (around September 2002). The CIA misunderstood (first mistake) that Iraq was concealing their known WMD programs and assumed they were deploying them to be used against us in the event of war. Therefore when Coalition Forces invaded Iraq and WMD were not only not used against us but the CIA found nothing WMD related (initially), they threw the baby out with the bath water and (second mistake) assumed that the WMD and WMD programs never existed.
Every activity of the CIA since their second mistake (April/May 2003) was geared toward proving (in their own minds) that Iraq never had any WMD. This is the core of their claim that Iraq never had any WMD. A claim for which the only evidence that existed was provided to the CIA by none other than Saddam Hussein and the former regime members who had been deceiving corrupt UN WMD inspectors from the very beginning.

The CIA Was DEAD WRONG ABOUT WMD in Iraq.
The question is not IF they were wrong but WHEN, here is what I mean,
1. The CIA was dead wrong in their assessment of Iraq 's WMD distribution, which began in 2001.
2. The CIA was dead wrong in their tactical assessment of Iraq 's intentions to deploy WMD to stop the Coalition attack that began in 2003.
The CIA was dead wrong in their prewar assessments so when it turned out that Iraq did not use WMD against us in the war, as they expected, they threw the baby out with the bath water and instead of reevaluating where they went wrong they just blamed Bush for "pressuring them " and washed their hands of the whole affair.
So when did the CIA go wrong? Once the war began and Iraq did not use WMD against us, as they thought Iraq would, they failed to recognize that between September 2001 and September 2002, Iraq was not distributing the WMD to use against the United States in a force on force war, but Iraq was distributing their WMD (mostly to the Sunni Triangle of Death) to conceal it from the UN weapons inspectors once they allowed them back into Iraq (in September 2002).
Nobody could get the CIA off their bases to look for WMD no matter what we found out there. Even President Bush with his "8,000 mile long screwdriver" could not get them off their bases. The map shown below is from the CIA's report and demonstrates that they refused to look for WMD in the locations that Iraq hid them.
Because there was NO INTELLIGENCE confirming their assessment that Iraq had no WMD, they turned to Saddam Hussein and Saddam's regime members in Coalition Custody who provided them everything they wanted to hear. All actual intelligence proved that there were WMD as President Bush said but accepting this intelligence by the CIA would mean that they would have to go find it and get it. Because Iraq was never fully under Coalition control, it was just too dangerous for the civilian bureaucrats and scientists to leave their bases. The head of the CIA in Iraq said that he was not going to send teams out to look for things his was convinced did not exist.
Their conclusion that there were no WMD in Iraq freed the CIA from their obligations to risk life and limb to look for something they convinced themselves did not exist.
Synopsys of My Book:
The same intelligence bureaucracy that allowed this to happen.
went to Iraq and let this man write the conclusion to their report.
Let me expound on this fact: Instead of listening to ground level US Intelligence agents, or high level Iraqi scientists, whose information proved that everything that President Bush said about Iraq was true, the CIA listened to Saddam Hussein. The CIA trusted Saddam Hussein more than their own eyes and refused to listen to any of us on the ground who didn't tell them what they wanted to hear.
The primary conclusion that the CIA gave to the President about Iraq's WMD was that Iraq continued to mislead the world to scare Iraq's enemies into not invading. This conclusion was obtained by FBI Special Agent George Piro who was Saddam Hussein's personal confidant, who said: "Saddam misled the world into believing that he had weapons of mass destruction in the months leading up to the war because he feared another invasion by Iran" (http://www.fbi.gov/page2/jan08/piro012808.html)
This became the conclusion of what happened to Iraq's WMD and runs counter to everything that the Iraq Survey Group (ISG or more specifically the CIA) found in Iraq.
The ISG (CIA and Charles Duelfer) manipulated, omitted or ignored all intelligence which did not suit the conclusion that Saddam Hussein gave them. They cherry picked information and word smithed their reports to support what Saddam Hussein and his regime told CIA and FBI interrogators. The failure to properly exploit and manipulation of intelligence obtained by agents like I was is probably the single greatest intelligence failure in the history of the federal intelligence bureaucracy.
To illustrate my point, let me take information out of the CIA's official report on WMD in Iraq, which you can find on the CIA's website.
After the invasion, Iraqis came to the Coalition Forces and told us that they were planning and preparing to conduct terrorist attacks against the United States our interests and other western targets. High level Iraq Intelligence Officials had already carried out attempts on western targets such as the assassination attempt on Hussein Kamel and former President Bush (President Bush Senior) in 1993. Several high level Iraqi officials confessed to planning and carrying out aborted assassination attempts against the west. The CIA shows pictures of the chemicals and materials that they were preparing such attempts with, shown in the figure below:
(Duelfer Report, Volume III, Chemical Section, p. 46.)
Note that Iraqis risked their lives to give the CIA the material to kill Americans in America by Iraqi or surrogate terrorists. In spite of all the information and dangerous material that Iraqis gave us, that proves that Iraq was a serious threat to the United States, the CIA still listened to Saddam Hussein and not the Iraqis trying to help us prove otherwise.
The ISG (CIA) found 5 clandestine biological weapons labs in the Baghdad area, at which they found evidence that the Iraqi Intelligence Service had been operating for the purpose of biological weapons research and development up until the war started in 2003. Note that it was the Iraqi Intelligence Service whose job it was to conduct attacks on America and our interest like the assassination attempt of President Bush Sr. in 1993.
Numerous Iraqis, scientists, intelligence personnel and engineers who were actively pursuing Iraq's illegal weapons of WMD programs came to Coalition Forces and told us what they had been doing, where they had hidden their secret programs and what happened to the WMD that Iraq was hiding.
They came and reported this stuff to us at grave personal peril.
If the ISG decided to pursue the leads that these Iraqis gave to us, they found that their stories were true. In spite of all the information to the contrary, the CIA still chose to listen to Saddam Hussein over the Iraqis who showed them otherwise. Even though everything that they actually found in Iraq contradicted what Saddam told them, they stuck to Saddam's conclusion.
Charles Duelfer, the CIA's head of the ISG told about some of the site exploitations that they did, which was based upon what some very high level Iraqis gave to them. For example, one high level Iraqi brought the ISG to a location with a great deal of buried chemicals. However, the ISG said that no Chemical Weapons (CW) precursors were present at the site. To prove that there were no CW precursors at the site, they show a picture of a CW precursor.
The CIA states the following about the site exploitation:
"No CW related materials were recovered, but the team found a large amount of chemicals buried at the site." (Duelfer Report, Volume 3, Chemical, p. 58)
Duelfer Report a tank of triethylamine found at the Musayyib site exploitation. (Duelfer Report, Volume III, Chemical Section, p. 59) According to the Duelfer Report glossary p. 13, triethylamine, TEA, is a chemical weapon (CW) precursor.
So they say there were no CW precursor's present but they said they found a large amount of chemicals buried at the site. As proof that they didn't find any CW precursors, they show a picture of a CW precursor so one wonders what the rest of the "large amount of chemicals buried at the site" actually were.
When I was in Iraq, I myself had several Iraqis come to me to tell me what they had done in concealing Iraq's ongoing WMD programs, all their stories made sense and were completely credible. I site for example the photograph below, the picture of this WMD site was taken August of 2003, which was about the same time that the first head of the ISG was trying to convince President Bush that there were no WMD in Iraq.
Although this site was discovered at about the same time that Dr Kay was trying to convince President Bush that there was no WMD in Iraq, it was briefed to the general officer in charge of finding WMD but the ISG refused to act on it. Dr. Kay later explained why they refused to act on it when he told The Guardian News Paper that the ISG "was reluctant to send teams to look for things that they were increasingly convinced didn't exist." This reluctance began about June of 2003 not 3 months after the war began.
The picture above was taken on the advice of an Iraqi who risked his life and limb to bring us there. The other information that he brought me got me a bronze star medal but the ISG refused to check out this and any other site that ground level intelligence collectors found for them, primarily because they convinced themselves that there were no WMD in Iraq. Here is proof from their own report:
There were 11 sites that prewar intelligence indicated were of intelligence value in regard to Iraq's WMD programs. Of the 11 sites, the ISG only exploited 5 of them. The ISG refused to exploit 6 of the 11 sites because they said that they had been looted or destroyed.
In the map below, I have taken the map from the CIA's unclassified report and circled with red circles the sites that the ISG refused to exploit and with green circles, the sites that they chose to exploit, also on their map, I superimpose the Sunni Triangle of death as an illustration as to the true motive behind what the ISG chose to exploit. Of important note is the fact that in the CIA's own report, they state that sites 7 and 8 were not looted or destroyed. Also noteworthy, their report states that some of the sites that they did choose to exploit had been looted and or destroyed just as some of the sites that they didn't exploit. Knowing this, look at what they did:
Let me restate what I just said for emphasis:
1. The ISG said that the sites they didn't exploit were not exploited because they had been looted or destroyed
2. However, sites 7 and 8 were not looted or destroyed
3. Nearly all the sites that were exploited in green were looted and some destroyed
4. Superimposed with the Sunni Triangle of Death it is more than apparent what the ISG's true motivation was in what they decided to exploit or not exploit. I'll put it simply, the ISG more particularly the CIA refused to exploit the sites in red because they were: LAZY COWARDS.
Now the map above is not the only thing that the ISG did in Iraq, they were just the sites that prewar intelligence indicated would be of value and they didn't even exploit half of them and their root motivation is obvious from the map and their description.
So what did the ISG actually do? Their report states that they fully exploited about 0.25% of the 10,000 known weapons caches in Iraq, their report also states how they exploited them. First of all they only searched the weapons caches in the Baghdad area and they did so by driving through the caches making visual observations of the majority of what they could see. HMMMM.. the word incredulous comes to mind.
Now, from this sample of the bigger picture of what the ISG (CIA) did in Iraq, let's talk about the bigger picture. The ISG (CIA) didn't find "the smoking gun"; that is to say, huge stock piles of WMD that they thought they would go collect like an Easter egg hunt in nice little piles with NSN numbers and labels stating the WMD that they were looking for. So instead of listening to the Iraqis who risked their lives to bring us to the sites that we found, and instead of listening to the ground level intelligence collectors who saw a different picture than they did from inside their cool, air conditioned palaces, they turned to Saddam Hussein, Dr. Rihab Taha known as Dr Germ, Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash, known to the UN as Mrs. Anthrax, Tariq Aziz and the other degenerate dirt bags that started this war in 1989.
Saddam Hussein is dead now but he got the last laugh because the CIA became his chief mouth piece which, to this day, continues to tell the lies that he started in 1991 when he concealed his ongoing WMD programs.
The most important thing to understand is that the CIA refused to listen to its own agents and the Iraqis who risked their lives to help us as well as their own findings in Iraq but instead turned to Saddam Hussein himself for the answers, which became the foundation for their conclusion of what happened to Iraq's WMD.
The only way to comprehend the abject stupidity of the ISG (CIA) and the conclusions that Saddam Hussein gave them, is to look at the picture of the 9/11/01 attacks. It's the same stupid people in charge and it's the same stupid bureaucracy which had subverted the American people every step of the way.
Their conclusion that there were no WMD in Iraq freed the CIA from their obligations to risk life and limb to look for something they convinced themselves did not exist.
What very few people know and what even fewer will admit to is that WMD or not, the war in Iraq prevented another attack on the home land.
Here is why. When we invaded Iraq, the whole of the Islamic extremist world from Saudi Arabia to Sudan to Chad thought that they could win the war there. Al Qaeda was certain that they could do to the United States in Iraq what had been done in Vietnam, Somalia and Beirut, in which a relatively small fighting force had defeated the military might of the United States through propaganda and the media. And, for the first time in two generations, the United States didn't turn tail and run during a major military conflict. Not only did we not turn tail and run as we did in the past, we toughed it out and at the height of the most politically incorrect time of the war, President Bush sent an additional 30,000 troops into the fight in Iraq. Before the surge was even started, the political dissenters called it a failure but now, the success of President Bush's resolve is well known in Iraq because not only did we demonstrate to the Iraqi people that we weren't going to turn tail and run like we did the last time we were there, but we were going to stick to our commitment and even more. This turned to tide against Al Qaeda and together the United States and our Iraqi allies wiped out Al Qaeda in Iraq. We fought and killed or captured them on their turf, preventing the people of the United States from having to fight them here the way we did on 9/11/01.
Now while the intelligence bureaucracy is so busy patting themselves on the back because there hasn't been an attack on the homeland since 9/11/01 and the political dissenters blaming President Bush for lying to us to get us to go to war in Iraq because of the intelligence bureaucracy's failure, we are safe, regardless of those that are safe not realizing the origin of their safety which has been the war in Iraq. The truth behind the necessity to go to war in Iraq will become more apparent. The political dissenters will be silenced when the truth about what actually happened in Iraq becomes revealed and I fear that many tears will be shed, much more than 9/11/01 and the fault for those tears will be squarely on the same bureaucracy that failed us in the 1990's, that failed us on 9/11/01 and that failed us in Iraq. Their failure goes far beyond what we did not find in Iraq but what we failed to stop in Iraq.
The man most familiar with international terrorism and the man who wrote the book on Osama Bin Laden before that name carried the infamy that it does today wrote in his book "The Secret History of the Iraq War" says this on the first page of his book: "There is no doubt that America had a viable, urgent imperative to go to war against Iraq when it did. The primary reason was the ongoing cooperation between Saddam Hussein's intelligence services and Osama bin Laden's terrorists" What we ground level intelligence collectors found in Iraq was just that. Similar to what happened before the 9/11/01 attacks, in which the ground level collectors knew every detail of the 9/11/01 plot down to the names of the terrorists, what the intelligence bureaucracy did with the information that ground level intelligence collectors knew is mind boggling. The information about the hijackers was so watered down that it was useless for any action. The information on the 9/11/01 hijackers was all but thrown in the trash until the day that it happened at which time the intelligence bureaucracies had their pictures on the TV, just about at the same time that it was happening. The exact same thing happened in Iraq, where the ground level collector knew or found exactly what we went to war to get but the bureaucratic managers refused to report the significance to anyone who could do anything about it. That is why I started this website and wrote my book, because it is important for anyone who cares to know the root cause of what went wrong in Iraq. It is the same problem, caused by the same people who failed us on 9/11/01. None of whom have been held accountable.
If you want to know what happened in Iraq and if you want to understand the threat that Saddam Hussein's Iraq posed to the United States before the war then read this book:
Mr. Bodansky got his information from Russian Intelligence.
I got my information from my own intelligence experiences in Iraq and my book verifies every single thing that Mr. Bodansky states in his book and that President Bush did not lie or mislead the American people in any way.
The sad fact, having said all this, is that the war in Iraq was actually way too late, the horse was already out of the barn when we closed the door and the abject failure of the intelligence bureaucracies in the United States to recognize that (as well as having Saddam Hussein write their primary conclusion) will be the cause of a great deal of unnecessary suffering of the people they should be protecting. MARK MY WORDS.
Senator Hillary Clinton provided the most accurate assessment of the threat that Iraq posed to the United States in October 2002 when she said:
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaida members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare..."
Mrs. Clinton should know, her husband bombed Iraq in 1998 for the same reason that President Bush launched Operation Iraqi Freedom, the only difference was that in a post 9/11/01 world we could not take the chance with our country that Bill Clinton did throughout the 1990's.
Unfortunately, because of bureaucratic meddling and political subterfuge here at home; in Iraq we won the war but lost the battle. President Bush is as much a victim as the rest of us.
